South Huron Medical Centre

The South Huron Medical Centre (SHMC) offers a Family Practice Clinic with four (4) physicians, providing primary care for many residents of South Huron and our surrounding area. An after-hours walk-in clinic is also available for patients who are not able to access their normal primary care provider during regular office hours, or for those who do not have a family doctor. Community outpatient laboratory services are also provided at the SHMC.


Additionally, the SHMC is home to several visiting clinics, which include, but are not limited to:

  • CMHA Huron-Perth (formerly Choices for Change)
  • Skin Disorders Clinic
  • Huron-Perth Health Unit Sexual Health Clinic

The SHMC is conveniently located at 23 Huron St. W, across the street from the hospital.

  • The Family Practice Clinic is currently accepting new applications for the waiting list. There is no date of acceptance at this time and applications will be kept on file until such time as patients can be informed if/when they will be accepted into the practice.

Walk-in Clinic

The South Huron Medical Centre Walk-in Clinic, 23 Huron St. W., is available for patients who are not able to access their normal primary care provider during regular office hours, or for those who do not have a family doctor. The SHMC Walk-in Clinic operates during the following hours:

  • Weekends and Holidays: Registration 10:45 a.m. – 1:45 p.m.
    • The SHMC Walk-in Clinic operates on all statutory holidays, except Christmas Day.

Note: Effective January 3, 2023, the Walk-in Clinic will only operate on weekends and statutory holidays from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.

 

Unfortunately, due to the high demand for care, this clinic often reaches capacity quickly and may close before the posted hour. For prescription renewals, please speak to your family doctor or pharmacy first, as they also may be able to help you. 


Note: It is not possible for bloodwork to be drawn at the Walk-in Clinic, although we will be happy to give you an appointment. If you need to book bloodwork please call 519-235-3343.  

 

Prescriptions for Opioids are not given at the Walk-In Clinic. 

Outpatient Laboratory Services

Community outpatient laboratory services are available at the SHMC, and are processed by Gamma Dynacare. Laboratory services are by appointment only and a signed requisition from a physician is required. Please book your appointment on-line at the link above or call 519-235-3343 to arrange an appointment. Bring your requisition with you, or fax it to the SHMC at 519-235-3845.
