The Alexandra
Marine and General Hospital (AMGH) is a fully accredited healthcare
organization located in the beautiful community of Goderich on the shores of
Lake Huron. AMGH is the largest provider of acute care hospital services in
Huron County. With an annual budget of $25M, AMGH offers a range of services
including 24 hour emergency, intensive care, obstetrics, general surgery, inpatient
adult psychiatry and multi-site community mental health. The organization hosts
a comprehensive range of specialty and regional healthcare services such as a
renal dialysis satellite and telestroke site.
About The South Huron Hospital (SHH):
The South Huron Hospital (SHH) was
established in 1953 and serves a wide catchment area, including the
Municipality of South Huron and its adjacent communities.
Located in a small, rural community, we are
proud to offer a 24/7 Emergency Department. With 19 inpatient beds, we provide
acute, rehabilitation, and complex continuing inpatient care. Our outpatient
services encompass the continuum of care as we strive to meet the evolving
needs of our patients and surrounding communities.
Position Description:
Reporting to the President
and CEO, the Vice President, Clinical Services and Chief Nursing Executive (VP
& CNE) is a member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and an active
participant in the implementation, and monitoring the Hospital’s vision,
mission, values and strategic plan. The VP & CNE, in partnership with the
SLT, and, the Chiefs of Staff, is accountable for playing a key leadership role
in hospital strategic planning, leadership team planning, decision-making and,
ultimately, the delivery of high-quality clinical services, patient care and
experience.
The VP & CNE also provides leadership in
the development and implementation of hospital-wide activities and programs
that promote a safe patient-centered environment and contribute to quality
improvement and risk management initiatives. With responsibility for patient flow, the VP develops plans
to improve internal and external capacity, flow, and resource
utilization.
Responsibilities:
- Accountability
for the coordination and direction of all patient care and staffing
related activities within their respective area.
- Collaborating
with leadership to ensure effective coordination of efforts for optimal
patient care.
- Providing
exceptional and visionary leadership in the development of program,
organizational and financial plans.
- Fiscal
accountability for the program’s financial resources, including the annual
budget.
- Individual
and team performance expectations.
- Providing
direction and guidance to manage human resources appropriately (recruit,
hire, train, coach, discipline and terminate staff).
- Labour
relations and collaborative relationship building.
Qualifications and Abilities:
- Undergraduate degree in Nursing combined with
a postgraduate degree in Nursing, Health Care Administration, Business
Administration or another related discipline.
- 7-10 years related senior leadership
experience in a small/medium rural hospital/health care organization.
- Registration in good standing with the College
of Nurses of Ontario (must be able to obtain if an out of province candidate).
- Proven leadership ability with a strong
commitment to a collaborative and influential leadership approach.
- Demonstrated success in building partnerships
with a wide range of stakeholders internally and externally
- Effective team player with leadership values
that reflect a commitment to the development of others and the ability to
deliver exceptional outcomes in an inter-professional environment.
- Skill working with various stakeholders,
individuals and teams to build consensus and support for change
initiatives to achieve corporate, program and system goals.
- Strong clinical and administrative leadership
abilities with extensive experience and ability to lead successful change
in patient-centered care.
- Operational management expertise including exceptional
financial, human resources, quality improvement, change management,
planning, and utilization.
- Able to travel between multiple sites for work purposes.
- Available for Administration on Call rotation
- Current Police Check/Vulnerable Sector Screen and immunization
status required upon hire.
