About the South Huron Hospital Association (SHHA):

We serve the Municipality of South Huron and its adjacent communities—a catchment area of approximately 19,000 residents. The hospital is located in the village of Exeter, approximately 30 minutes north of London, and provides 24/7 emergency services in addition to acute, rehabilitation and complex continuing care inpatient services and various diagnostic and ambulatory services. Our staff also supports family practice and walk-in care at the South Huron Medical Centre. As a small rural hospital, we cherish the relationship we have with our community and pledge uncompromising standards to those we serve.


Position Description:

The Housekeeping Aide performs cleaning functions throughout the Hospital, including patient and specialized rooms. The mandate of this role is on maintaining a sanitary, attractive, and orderly environment in accordance with established procedures and guidelines. The Housekeeping Aide also plays a vital role in infection control processes, ensuring that the environment is safe and free from infectious agents for everyone in the hospital.

 

NOTE: This is a temporary part-time position for maternity leave coverage, beginning in June 2023. The expected duration of the position is between 10 and 13 months.



Qualifications (Education, Experience, Abilities):
  • High School diploma or equivalent (Grade 12) required.
  • Knowledge of WHMIS, MDS, and processes for handling cleaning products.
  • Experience cleaning in a hospital or institutional setting will be an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Effective communication skills to interact with patients, families, colleagues, and management
  • Demonstrated attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and rapidly adjust to changing conditions.
  • Working knowledge of computer applications and software.
  • Current Police Check/Vulnerable Sector Screen and immunization status (including COVID-19 vaccination) required upon hire.
