SHHA Receives Funds to Improve Hospital

This funding will allow hospitals across
the province to renew critical infrastructure, helping to ensure patients
continue to receive high-quality care in a safe and healthy environment.
Exeter, ON— Monday, December 19, 2022 — Today, MPP Lisa
Thompson announced that the South Huron Hospital Association received $2,602,808 through the Hospital Infrastructure
Renewal Fund (HIRF). This funding will support crucial infrastructure projects
to extend useful life or improve the quality of hospital facilities.
“Maintaining hospital infrastructure is
another example of how the government is ensuring that Ontarians have access to
health care services they can depend on,” said Jimmy Trieu, President &
CEO, South Huron Hospital Association. “SHHA is truly thankful for the
government’s support in keeping our hospital up to date.”
What is HIRF?
HIRF was established
in 1999 and provides annualized funding to assist hospitals in renewing
facilities and the province announced $182M of HIRF funding for hospitals this
year. Funding through HIRF supplement hospital needs on a priority basis,
allowing hospitals to decide where to invest the money and proceed quickly with
projects. Projects can include roof work, fire sprinklers, patient elevators or
electrical systems. This year’s HIRF announcement will
be distributed to 131 hospitals and 65 community health service providers
across the province.
