SHHA Reaches 98% COVID-19 Vaccination Rate
October 01, 2021
We are all aware of the impact COVID-19 has had on patients,
families and our community. According to Huron Perth Public Health Unit we can
minimize these impacts into the future by increasing vaccinations rates.
In mid-August, SHHA put out a call to all staff, physicians
and Board members to see if we could obtain an overall vaccination rate of 92%.
Within two weeks, our documented vaccination rate was well over that
percentage. This achievement called for a celebration of sorts! So, on Wednesday, September 22, South Huron
Hospital hosted a box lunch day for all staff. Also, to ensure all shifts were covered, the team decided on four
different days to share the celebration with everyone that works here at South
Huron Hospital between September 22nd and October 1st.
Michelle Wick, the Chief Nursing Executive at South Huron
Hospital Association said, "Our healthcare team goes above and beyond to
prioritize the care needs of others, each and every day. Getting vaccinated is
just one example of how our team is demonstrating that we care about our
families, each other and the communities that we serve. At South Huron Hospital
Association, we are so proud to recognize our team for their continued
dedication during the ongoing pandemic and for leading the way to keep all of
us safe and healthy, by getting vaccinated. To our team at SHHA, we appreciate you!" This was further supported by this statement
from Nancy Peter, Interim President & CEO, “We have an incredible team of
dedicated staff and physicians, that strive to provide the very best
environment and care for our patients and their families. Our Board members also accepted the challenge
and soon had a vaccination rate of 100% amongst its members.”
Congratulations to the all that helped South Huron Hospital
Association achieve this high rate of vaccination.
